WESSINGTON SPRINGS -- The Sanborn Central/Woonsocket boys cross country team edged James Valley by one point for the team title at the 281 Conference meet on Tuesday. Sanborn Central/Woonsocket had 15 points as a team.
James Valley Christian’s Daniel Ayoroa won the meet in 18 minutes and 38 seconds. Wessington Springs’ AJ Neely (19:13) placed second while Sanborn Central/Woonsocket’s Braxton Gentles finished in third with a time of 19:28.
Sanborn Central/Woonsocket had two more top-10 finishers, as Jeff Boschee finished fourth with a time of 19:40 and Josh Tucker finished in ninth place with a time of 21:01. Wessington Springs’ Sam Poncelow finished in eighth place in 20:58.
Wessington Springs had 20 points to finish in third place as a team.
On the girls side, James Valley Christian’s Abby Hasart led all runners with a time of 21 minutes and 41 seconds to earn the first place victory. Two other James Valley Christian runners finished in the top 10.

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket’s top finisher Hanna Terkildsen finished in third place in 23:17.
