Letter: We miss you, veterans. And thank you for your service
We may not be able to see your faces and hear your stories once again this year, but we remember you.
To the Editor:
We know that Veteran’s Day is a time to remember those who have served and give thanks for the freedom that we have. In the past, we have been able to welcome veterans into the Mitchell Middle School and hear their stories. We want you to know, veterans, that we miss spending this valuable time with you during these past two years, but we have not forgotten about you. We have not forgotten your patriotism, your love for our country, your bravery, and your willingness to serve. Most importantly, we have not forgotten those who paid the ultimate price for our country and our freedom.
We may not be able to see your faces and hear your stories once again this year, but we remember you. We look forward to the day where we can welcome you into the school and hear your stories once again. Most importantly, we look forward to the day when we can look you in the eye and express our gratitude. Veterans, thank you for your bravery, your service, and your sacrifice. Thank you for putting your own life on the line so that we may live in freedom today.
The Mitchell Middle School Student Council
EDITOR'S NOTE: The Mitchell Republic typically does not print Letters to the Editor with the phrasing "Thank you." However, the newspaper felt a group of students thanking veterans for their service during the week of Veterans Day is a good exception.
