LETTER: George Orwell’s 1984 revisited in 2022

letter to the editor.jpg
We are part of The Trust Project.

To the Editor:

We just want transparency. It is all about the science. No one is above the law.

There are a myriad of cliches and hackneyed utterances that are meant to suggest that the new normal is the status quo. Meanwhile the thought police are cloaked in Marxist philosophies that indoctrinate our children to the government’s proliferated “Critical Race Theory,” and the “1619 Project” that seeks to rewrite history and substitutes innocence of our children with suspicion, and guilt-laden propaganda. We are headlong of an organized decline to an atheistic, Marxist totalitarian regime not unlike Venezuela.

The U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland in an interview responded to a question regarding the Justice Department’s prospective investigation of former president Donald Trump; he replied that he would investigate and “no one is above the law.” Then merely days later, the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago Resort to search for National Archives classified documents. These raids have been increasingly used and hyped by the mainstream media, to silence the conservatives such as Rudy Guiliani, Roger Stone and Peter Navarro. Hillary Clinton was never investigated after her server was “bleached” destroying numerous classified documents. Listen to the quiet with Hunter Biden’s chronicled indiscretions.

Was the raid on Trump, conducted to stop Trump’s 2024 presidential return or a bait and switch stratagem to disrupt the ongoing investigations on Clinton and the Bidens. Another media hush was the Justice Department’s “No one is above the law,” clamor when criminal activities are from the left.

What’s next, the weaponization of the IRS? The Inflation Reduction Act will add 87,000 armed IRS agents. This is big government overreach and fear-mongering run amuck. The January 6 insurrection investigation supplants first amendment rights with the forfeiture of due process, and lengthy imprisonments without Fourth Amendment legal rights. Now Mike Lindell, the My Pillow guy, has been raided by the FBI. These are concerted efforts to silence political opposition. This is Orwellian and a wake-up call to all freedom-loving Americans.

Loyalty to our own educator professionals and to our K12 children is evidently too heavy a lift for Gov. Noem to carry.
Education — a well-rounded public education — has never been more important.
With a title like that, I was expecting a substantive, if surprising, article on the topic, given the state’s liberal (in the good sense) attitudes on the subject.
I’m here because I want to be here, and well, because we continue making fantastic progress with digital first journalism to sustain our long-term outlook.
