To the Editor:

As a fan of Dakota Wesleyan University sports I was very disappointed in the hometown Mitchell Daily Republic. The column by Jeremy Karll was unacceptable, after all the players on the team are 18 to 22 years old. The coaches and players put in a lot of time and are trying their best.

When there is a disaster in Mitchell, the DWU athletes are the first people to come to help.

He needed to be more positive in some of his statements or not written them at all, no one was impressed.

I urge the city to utilize part of its budget surplus to go beyond overtime for its current workers by hiring community members on a seasonal basis who are accustomed to driving large equipment.
It is an out-of-state, private, for-profit company taking our beautiful, productive land by eminent domain for private gain by generating power to sell to the highest out of state bidder.
If the city is trying to save expenses, let them save somewhere else in the budget that doesn't affect everyone.
