To the Editor:
As the World’s Only Corn Palace present building is 100 years old this year, we would like the Corn Palace Committee to reconsider the circus murals and instead use murals representing the century of this Corn Palace’s existence. We understand the murals will be in place through the summer of 2022.
The Palace’s greeters, tour guides and video explain the origin of the three Mitchell Corn Palaces starting in 1892. The timeline along the halls of the Corn Palace is very informative for anyone who takes time to read as they walk into the auditorium.
It seems it would be easy to pick a mural from every decade from 1921 to 2020 and have the talented Dakota Wesleyan students depict the year as they redesign the murals.
Come on Mitchell — let’s celebrate our Corn Palace with a tribute to the past 100 years!
