To the Editor:

I have been viewing the Kentucky Derby for 50-some years.

The decision to take the winner's race away from Maximum Security when he obviously won the race is the most unfair thing I have ever heard of. If, and I do mean if, the rider did something that appeared wrong, then why not fine them, but not cheat the great horse?

But it looked to me like the other riders were trying to zero in on Maximum Security and his rider did what he had to do to let the horse run his race.

And look at all the people who laid down money on Maximum Security to win. And more people chose him in the race. Shouldn't they get the payoff for choosing the best runner?

If there is any honor in the Kentucky Derby, they have to correct that stupid decision!
