To the Editor:

The Sierra Club stands in solidarity with immigrant communities and organizations advocating for immigrant rights. We highlighted the true costs of the border wall, which itself denigrates ecosystems as well as human communities. We work to transform trade policies that contribute to forced migration and environmental injustice, support our partners’ voices on social media, and share our access to power and funding. We firmly stand against border militarization and family separation.

Science has proven mankind originated in South Africa and migrated throughout the planet. We are all immigrants.

The independence of our nation stands upon the phrase, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” Think on those words.

Ours is a small blue planet and all life on it are our neighbors. I wonder, can we, the American people, find enough neighborly love in our hearts to follow the Golden Rule and treat others as we would wish to be treated.
