To the Editor:
As we know, our president is elected by winning the vote of the Electoral College (EC), not the popular vote. I feel this is not what voters today want. Recently, Al Gore won the majority vote of the people and lost the EC vote and lost the election. In South Dakota, even if you only win the people's vote by 1 percent, you will all of that party's electoral votes.
There is another big flaw. When representing their state's voters at the Electoral College, the electors are not committed to vote the people's choice. One of our EC representatives, Gov. Daugaard, decided he knew know that Republican Party voters and said he would not vote for Donald Trump, even if that's what the people wanted. He then changed his mind and said he would vote for Trump. Hmmm.
The Electoral College should be eliminated.
