To the Editor:
EB-5 and GEAR UP are serious scandals. They included questionable loss of life and misuse of taxpayer money that happened on Marty Jackley's watch as highest law enforcer in South Dakota.
Whether or not Jackley was aware or unaware of the scandals that actively went on for years during his term as attorney general is not in question. It is the fact that they did happen that gives me caution as he runs for the office of governor.
Also a concern is the increase in drug use and crime in South Dakota during the years of AG Jackley and Gov. Daugaard's tenure. Combating both seem slow in coming, considering there were early warning signs of increasing meth and opioid use reported years ago.
Republicans have a good option for candidate for governor in Kristi Noem. She is highly qualified, who also has legislative experience in Washington, D.C., a definite perk when managing the affairs of our state.
