To the Editor:
Thank you for taking the initiative to encourage high school students to develop their journalistic talents. Too many schools have dropped classes that teach those skills as well as publish a school newspaper. That is very unfortunate. Now, local newspapers should go one step more and encourage students to submit articles as a regular feature. These could include the four major styles of writing: expository, descriptive, persuasive and narrative.
Perhaps this would encourage some students to pursue a career in this broad field of communication.
