To the Editor:
Why would intelligent people oppose the Bible? God's Word teaches us to love God and love our neighbor as ourselves. We are taught to honor our parents, not to lie, cheat, steal, covet or be proud. These Biblical concepts are what every good parent tries to teach their children. Even if you don't believe the Bible is truth directly from God, why would you fight what it teaches?
It's interesting how eloquent some people are as they try to discredit the Bible. It is equally interesting that bright, capable and well-trained minds have tried for centuries to prove the Bible is full of errors or is not the Word of God. When that doesn't work, they try to ban, burn or bury the Bible.
During my lifetime, the intelligent, legally and politically powerful people in America have outlawed the Bible and prayer in school while they construct laws designed to criminalize Christianity. In nations like North Korea and Iraq, where Christianity has been totally criminalized, the church is forced to go underground to escape persecution. But Christians willingly risk their lives to get a copy of the Bible, because the living Word of God changes people and their eternal destination.
Paul and the disciples who wrote the New Testament each suffered a martyr's death rather than deny that Jesus was the son of God who died for our sin. Yes, men do risk dying for what they believe is true or right. But, seriously, can you believe 11 disciples would fabricate a story about a dead man and promote it to the point they would willingly and separately die to defend a lie?

Bottom line, spiritually dead people can't believe the Bible or believe in Jesus Christ. Only the Holy Spirit can make you spiritually "born again." If you have questions, it is my job to love, witness and pray to Jesus for you, Eric Nase, or any individuals who question Christianity, because I do believe Jesus Christ is the only way to eternal life in Heaven.
