Ward and Marion Stenson

January 5, 2021 and January 21, 2021

Ward Stenson (90) passed away in Lodi, CA of Covid-19. Born in Sioux Falls, SD to Ansel and Frances (Ward) Stenson, he graduated from Mitchell HS in 1948, SDSU in 1952 then served as an officer in the US Army. In 1954 he married Marion Hepper of Lodi, CA. The couple had 3 children and founded and operated Stenson’s Engraving and Gifts in Stockton, CA for 55 years. They retired from there just 4 years ago.

Ward earned a Masters in Social Work from CSU. A lifelong learner, he also studied at UOP in Stockton. He was a social worker for San Joaquin County, CA for many years. He enjoyed fishing, history and antiques.

Marion, age 85, also suffered of Covid-19 and passed just 2 weeks and 2 days after Ward, one week before their 67th wedding anniversary. She enjoyed antiques, was creative, artistic and devoted to family.

They are survived by their daughter, Sandy Stenson of Stockton; grandchildren: Melanie Fikes and Dane Stenson; greatgrandchildren: Janessa and Fiona; his sister, Sherry Stilley of Mitchell, SD, her sister Bubby, and numerous nieces and nephews. They were preceded in death by a daughter, Shellie and son, Edward. Memorials may be directed to American Cancer Society. Internment will be at the family plot in Jenny Lind, CA.
