Vilas “Bud” Hohn

Vilas (Bud) Hohn was born September 12, 1936 in Mitchell, SD to Joseph and Louise Hohn. He passed away surrounded by family in his home December 19, 2021

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Parkston, SD. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 PM with a 6:30 prayer service on Monday, January 10, 2022 at the church. Arrangements by Will Funeral Chapel.

He served in the Army National Guard. He enjoyed farming, working at Dakota Pork, helping relatives butcher, and helping on the Klumb farm until retirement.

On August 5th, 1958 he married Geraldine Brech in Parkston, SD. He was a member of the Holy Catholic Church in Ethan. He enjoyed his family, grandkids, great grandkids, playing cards, fishing, car races, polka music, dancing, and hanging out with friends.

On his 80th birthday, demonstrating dedication and determination, he walked 17 miles from his farm to Mitchell, SD.

He was a kind man with a gentle soul, willing to always help anyone in need, always willing to do more than what was asked of him. He was greatly loved by his family and respected by his many friends. He will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to have shared in his life.

He is survived by his wife Geraldine Hohn of Sioux Falls, family: Brenda Tobin of Ethan, Belva (Greg) Kurtz of Sioux Falls, Patty (Steve) Kleinlein of Sioux City, Darwin (Rhonda) Hohn of Brandon, Darin (Dina) Hohn of Harrisburg, Jen Hohn of Sioux Falls, 12 grandkids, and 4 great grandkids, and three sisters: Marcy Degen, Stella Klumb, and Alida Haag.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Willard, sister Hilda, grandson Eric, several In-laws, and many friends.
