Timothy “Tim” Johnson, age 63 of Mitchell, SD died Sunday, October 18, 2020 at his home under hospice care surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell with burial at St. Mary of Mercy Catholic Cemetery, Alexandria, SD. Visitation will begin 10:00 AM Thursday October 22, 2020 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Masks are required. funeral arrangements under the direction of Will Funeral Chapel.

Tim Johnson, son of Earl and Audrey (Wermers) Johnson, was born May 21, 1957 in Mitchell, SD. He was baptized June 9, 1957. Tim grew up in Mitchell until the age of 16 and graduated from high school in Columbus, OH. Following his graduation, Tim moved back to Mitchell to attend Mitchell Technical Institute in the Power Lineman Program.

Tim was united in marriage with Darla Ward on November 6, 1976 in Mitchell, SD. The couple moved to Presho, SD where he was employed for West Central Electric. In 1978 the couple moved back to Mitchell where, Tim became employed with Central Electric for the past 42 years.

Tim loved spending time with his family. His grandchildren were the joy in his life.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Darla (Ward) Johnson, Mitchell, SD; his children, Nicole (Jon) Larson, Aurora, CO, Eric (Amy) Johnson, Ipswich, SD, Nate Johnson, Pierre, SD; his grandchildren, Joseph, Grace and Elizabeth Larson, Ally, Rhyan, Maci and Andrew Johnson; his sister, Kelly (Jon) Edwards, Pataskala, OH; his brothers, Clay (Tina) Johnson, Weeki Wachee, FL, Scott (Karen) Johnson, Ivins, UT, Pat Johnson, Reynoldsburg OH, Darin (Andrea) Johnson, Reynoldsburg, OH; a sister-in-law, Darcy Johnson, Dublin, OH; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Brett Johnson, in-laws, Alvin and Helen Ward, and a nephew, Aaron Hanson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the SDRE Line Patrol, PO Box 8, Timber Lake, SD 57656.
