Ronald Jorgensen

Ronald N. Jorgensen, age 89, of Huron, passed away on Tuesday, September 01, 2020 at his home in Huron. His public graveside service will be at 2 PM on Wednesday, September 9th, 2020 in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum. There will be no visitation. Ronald Norman Jorgensen was born on March 8, 1931 in Huron, South Dakota to parents Anton M. and Ebba F. (Carlson) Jorgensen. He attended Huron schools, graduating from Huron High School in 1949. Ron joined the United States Air Force on December 19, 1951 and proudly served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on December 1, 1955, achieving the rank of Staff Sargent. Ron received the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

On April 8, 1951, Ron married Beverly Jo Ann Hopper at First United Methodist Church in Huron. Ron and Beverly lived in several places throughout the United States. Ron was Supervisor of Foreign Sales for Armour and Co. for 38 years. They lived in Ypsilanti, Michigan; North Platte, NE; St. Joseph, MO, Norfolk, NE; Memphis, TN; Phoenix, AZ; Woodbury, MN; then returned to Huron. Ron worked full and part time at UBC before fully retiring in 1993.

He is survived by two grandsons, Robert (Faith) Jorgensen and Scott Jorgensen, all of Florence, KY; two great-grandchildren, Danielle Jorgensen and Ronald D. Jorgensen; nephew Wade (Janeen) Kouf of Huron; brother-in-law, Frank Durst of Mitchell; sisters-in-law, Lois (James) Coughlin of Omaha, Darlene Hopper of Cavour, and Shirley (Phillip) Hess of Roswell, NM; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sons, (a stillborn infant and a grown son, Kim Ronald Jorgensen - 38 years old), brother Roy Jorgensen, sister June Durst, sister-in-law Doris Kouf, and brother in-law, Lynn Hopper.
