Robert Nagel, 87, of Mitchell, SD, died Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Prairie Health Care in Woonsocket. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Monday, October 5, 2020 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mitchell. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 1-3:00 PM Sunday at Bittner Funeral Chapel. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Robert L. Nagel was born on April 30, 1933 to Fred and Mamie (Miller) Nagel in Mitchell, SD. Robert grew up in Mitchell, and graduated from Mitchell High School in 1953. Robert was active in many sports. He loved football, basketball, and trap shooting. He was a Diamond Badge winner in trapshooting.

Robert was drafted into the Army from 1953 to 1955. After he returned from his military service, he married Shirley Agnitsch in 1956 in Mitchell. Also, upon returning from service he attended Dakota Wesleyan University, and graduated in 1958. Robert then worked for International Harvester for 12 years.

Robert was an outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Above all, he loved spending time with family and friends.

Robert is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Jami Peterson of Mitchell and her children, Skyler (Elise) Peterson, Talon (Mason Baysinger) Peterson, and Jamin Peterson; daughter, Michele (Ernest) Weyer of Greely, CO and their children, Christena (David) Isakson and Guy (Jacque) Weyer; brother, Bill (Betty) Nagel of Winston Salem, NC; sister, Suzetta Miller of Mesa, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by a daughter in infancy, Veronica; grandson, Robert; and brothers, Joe and Dan.
