Pearl Neugebauer


Pearl Neugebauer (96) was called to her heavenly home on Monday, January 4, 2021 at home in Mitchell, SD. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Dimock, SD, with burial to follow in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, January 8, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at the church. The funeral service will not be live streamed; it will be recorded and available on our website ( after the conclusion of the service.

Masks and social distancing are encouraged.

Pearl Caroline Jendersee was born on December 4, 1924 to Carl and Ida (Krause) Jendersee at home at Hillside, SD. She was baptized into the Christian faith at home on January 23, 1925 by Rev. Peter Tecklenburg. In 1938 she was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church, Dimock, SD. Pearl was very active in the church youth group.

She attended country school through 8th grade at Washington District 23.

Pearl married Harold Neugebauer on November 9, 1947 at St. John Lutheran Church. They farmed west of Dimock where they raised their seven children. Pearl spent many hours milking cows, raising chickens, gardening, canning, and baking countless number of loaves of bread.

She moved to Parkston November 9, 1985, then in June 2014 to Countryside Living in Mitchell and finally to Parkston Bormann Manor Assisted Living/Nursing Home in August 2017. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Berea Society and LWML. She enjoyed traveling, quilting, bowling, playing Wii video games, Aggravation and cards with friends and family.

She is survived by her children; Dennis (Sherri) Neugebauer, Sioux Falls, Wayne (Rose) Neugebauer, Florence, Cheryl (Steve) Hohbach, Mt. Vernon, Sandy Neugebauer, Shirley Neugebauer, Lincoln (Candy) Neugebauer all of Mitchell, daughter-in-law; Dianne Neugebauer, Scotland; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harold, son, Jerald, sister and husband, Rosie and Lawrence Plamp, four brothers and their wives, Bill (Alma) Jendersee, Elmer (Selma) Jendersee, Ray (Sally) Jendersee, Lawrence (Evelyn) Jendersee, a grandchild, Justin Neugebauer, great-grandchild, McKinley Hohbach and numerous in-laws, aunts, uncles and cousins.
