Nicholas Bartscher

Nicholas Bartscher, 51, of Mitchell, SD, died Monday, February 20, 2023, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, February 28, at Zion Lutheran Church in Mitchell. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8:00 PM with a 7:30 PM prayer service at Zion Lutheran Church. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Nicholas Raymond Bartscher was born December 26, 1971 to Donald and Betty Lou (Harris) Bartscher in Freeman, SD. He graduated from Emery High School in 1990.

Nicholas was united in marriage to Shannon Reimnitz on May 27, 1995 in Mitchell.

Throughout Nicholas’ years of work, he was employed with Puetz Corporation, B&B Construction, Little Debbie, C&B Operations, and Ellefson Implement. He served as a trustee of Zion Lutheran and on the building committee of the church. He was also a member of Dakota Prairie Dart Association.

Nicholas is survived by his wife, Shannon; sons, William and Mason Bartscher; siblings: Donna (James) Ruden, Emery; Edwin (Lynn) Bartscher, Brandon; Francis (Colleen) Bartscher, Rapid City; Gerald Bartscher, Mitchell; Ila (Doug) Cunningham, Mitchell; Joyce (Steve) Erickson, Emery; Karl (Gloria) Bartscher, Winfred; Larry Bartscher, Mitchell; Maureen Heyd, Canistota; and Ona (Chris) Collins, Emery; mother-in-law, Pat Reimnitz; brothers-in-law, Larry Berg, Alexandria and Michael (Kristina) Reimnitz; and sister-in-law, Sandra Bartscher, Bridgewater.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Boyd; sisters, Anita Berg, Camilla Bartscher, and Helen Bartscher; father-in-law, Ted Reimnitz; and brother-in-law, Roger Heyd.
