Dennis Shultz

Dennis J. Shultz, 77 of Sioux Falls, SD passed away peacefully Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Sanford USD Medical Center, Sioux Falls, SD. A family directed Celebration of a Life Well Lived will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at The Alliance in Sioux Falls from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.

Dennis was born on July 4, 1945, the son of Delbert and Myrna (Twamley) Shultz in Mitchell, SD. He grew up on a farm in rural Alexandria, SD and later moved to Mitchell, SD and graduated from Mitchell High School in 1963. Dennis enlisted in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and proudly served on the USS Florikan. He was united in marriage to Barbara Rentschler on June 4, 1971 and moved to Sioux Falls shortly after, where they raised their 2 children. Dennis worked as a machinist for Shakstad and then Malloy Electric where he worked for 30 years, retiring in 2016.

Dennis was a strong supporter of the Great Plains Zoo, VFW Children’s Home, local American Legion and VFW posts and many other organizations. He was a diehard Vikings fan, loved feeding his critters, but more than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, creating memories to last a lifetime.

Dennis is survived by his daughter, Peri (Jody O’Toole) Shultz; son, Darin (Jean) Shultz; granddaughter, Elexis Shultz; brother, Donald (Caron) Shultz and nephew, Ryan Shultz.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and wife Barbara (1985).
