Betty Jane Kristensen, 90, of Plankinton, SD passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Aurora-Brule Care & Rehabilitation Center in White Lake, SD. Funeral Services are 10:30 AM Monday, May 9, 2022 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Plankinton. A Committal Service will follow at White Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Sunday, May 8, 2022 with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service. Mount Funeral Home of Plankinton is assisting with arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may be extended to the family through mountfuneralhome.com. The funeral will be live-streamed under “Photos and Videos” on the funeral home website (Webcasting) and through “Mount Funeral Homes” Facebook page.

Betty Jane (Gardner) Kristensen was born on June 29, 1931 to Henry and Helen (Westendorf) Gardner. She attended country school and graduated from Stickney High School. On January 18, 1952, she married Raymond Kristensen. They lived on the family farm until October 1983 when they moved to Plankinton because of Raymond’s heath condition. Raymond passed away in April of 1984 and she continued to live in Plankinton. She worked at the Plank Inn for 10 years. In February 2014 she moved to Mitchell into the Edgewood Assisted Living. In March of 2022, Betty became a resident of the Aurora-Brule Care & Rehabilitation Center in White Lake until the time of her death.

She enjoyed playing cards, visiting with friends, watching the Minnesota Twins and spending time with all of her grandchildren. She was a member of the Busy Bee Extension Club, St. Paul’s Dorcas Circle, a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in White Lake as well as a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Plankinton.

Grateful for having shared Betty’s life are, her two sons: Gary (Janice) Kristensen of Mitchell, SD and Ron (Sandy) Kristensen of Plankinton, SD; six grandchildren: Angela Kristensen, Ryan Kristensen, Abby Kristensen (Tyler Waldner), Jena (Josh) Lawson, Preston Kristensen, and Chase (Shelby) Kristensen; eight great-grandchildren: Eva & Bailor Kristensen, Skylar, Avery & Zoey Lawson, Boston & Kambyl Kristensen, and Ford Waldner; one sister-in-law, Sharon Gardner; along with many nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Kristensen; her parents, Henry and Helen Gardner; her sister and brother-in-law, Shirley & Art Scheetz; her brother, Jack Gardner; father and mother-in-law, Ed and Jensine Kristensen; brothers and sisters-in-law: Nels & Elaine Kristensen, Edwin & Ila Kristensen, Robert & Norma Kristensen, and Lawrence Kristensen.
