Douglas Myers

Douglas Myers, New Port News, VA, formerly from Alexandria, SD.

Doug was born 1/3/60 in Mitchell, SD to Richard (Dick) and Donna (Degen) Myers, and passed away 2/5/21 in Hampton, VA from a heart attack.

Doug was born with a heart problem and made many trips to Mayo Clinic in his early years, for open heart surgery and check-ups.

He grew up in Alexandria, SD where he attended Hanson High School, graduating in 1979. After graduation, he attended USD in Vermillion, SD and received a teaching degree in history.

He worked for Gateway Computers in North Sioux City for over 10 years, and relocated with the company to Virginia. For the last 13+ years he was a workforce analyst for Alorica in New Port News, VA.

Doug was a real history buff. He loved the Virginia area, and all the history associated with it. He enjoyed reading and even attempted his own manuscript. He was also an avid sports fan and he enjoyed watching the games with his friends.

Happy to have shared his life, and grateful for all their memories, are his surviving family: his mother, Donna Myers, Mitchell, SD., 2 brothers, Dennis (Carla) Myers, Dimock, SD, Dayton (Barb) Myers, Mitchell, SD., 2 sisters, Deb (Carl) Mentele, Candler, NC; Dee (Kevin) Gebel, Mitchell, SD, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Richard (Dick) Myers, his paternal grandparents, Robert and Mae Myers, and his maternal grandparents John and Elizabeth Degen.

A private ceremony will take place at a later date. The family requests no flowers or monetary gifts.  Funeral arrangements entrusted to Will Funeral Chapel
