LaVera Plagmann, 90, of Mitchell, died Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Firesteel Health Care Center in Mitchell.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday, December 6, 2019 at First Lutheran Church in Mitchell. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Thursday at the Bittner Funeral Chapel.
LaVera Lorraine Plagmann was born on September 1, 1929 to Frank and Louise (Blume) Armfield in Geddes, SD. She grew up and graduated High school in Geddes. After high school, she moved to Mitchell. She married John W. Plagmann on January 14th, 1949 in Luverne, Minnesota. While living in Mitchell, she worked at a café for a short time before working for Randall Foods until her retirement. She was a member of the Moose Lodge, where she enjoyed helping with luncheons and traveling to various Moose Conventions throughout the U.S., and First Lutheran Church, where she was a member of Elizabeth Circle and quilted. Her hobbies included playing cards (Rummy and Hand and Foot), baking, embroidering, crocheting for Project Linus, and making baby hats for the hospital. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren. They will surely miss positivity and daily phone calls just to check in.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Grave, Mitchell; four grandchildren, Frank Grave, Sioux Falls, Tim Grave (Scott) Lucedale, Mississippi, Kimberly Johnson Maier (Chris) Brookings, BJ Johnson (Janai) Mitchell; two great-grandchildren, Allison Grave (Jeb Hettich), Sioux Falls, and Bradley Grave, Sioux Falls; sister, Betty Johnson, Dallas, TX; sister-in-law, Beverly Armfield, Sioux Falls, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Plagmann, daughter, Sharon Johnson; sons-in-law, Dennis Grave, John Johnson; sister, Sylvia Stunes; and brother, Ervin Armfield.
