Larry W. Saukerson

Larry Wayne Saukerson, 76, passed away at Avera McKennan Hospital on October 31, 2020.

Larry Wayne was born February 10, 1944 to Maynard Saukerson and Ilith (Heinrich) Saukerson in Chamberlain SD. He attend Keiner Country School in rural Chamberlain and graduated from Chamberlain High School in 1962. He married Linda (Fuegen) in 1963 and they had four children, Daniel, Nancy, James, and Thomas. The last 16 years of his life were shared with Judy Brownell, his special friend and companion.

Larry spent his early years raising his family while farming and ranching north of Pukwana. In his later years he worked with many local farmers and ranchers driving truck, hauling cattle, and helping to plant and harvest. Since 1995, Larry had worked for the Pazour Cattle and Farming operation.

Larry loved staying active and enjoyed playing cards with friends, dancing on the weekends and was spending time more recently in Arizona during the winter.

He is survived by his children, Nancy (Marty) Knaub, James (Vonnie) Saukerson, and Thomas Saukerson; his companion Judy Brownell; his twin sister, Judy (Jim) Davenport, Peggy (Craig) Swanson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by his father, Maynard Saukerson; his mother, Ilith Saukerson; his sister, Janice Saukerson; his son, Daniel Saukerson and his grandparents.

Visitation will be at Hickey Funeral Home on Friday, November 6, 2020 from 5-7.

Private family services will be held at a later date with burial in the Swedish Lutheran Cemetery at Ola, SD.
