Judy Waldera

Judy Kay (Murray) Waldera, 71, of Alexandria, SD passed away Saturday November 28, 2020 at her home with family at her side. Judy fought ovarian cancer for over four years. A private family service will be at St. Mary of Mercy Catholic Church in Alexandria. Arrangements by Will Funeral Chapel.
Judy was born in Parkston, SD on February 14, 1949 to Don and Margaret Murray. She attended all twelve years at Hanson graduating in 1967.
Judy and her husband of 53 years, Richard Waldera were married August 19, 1967. Richard and Judy spent all but the first two years of marriage in Alexandria, SD. Judy had a love for softball and volleyball, playing for many years in Women’s and coed leagues.
Judy ran an in-home daycare for 40 plus years. Judy cherished the fact she was able to be a stay at home mom for her two sons, one daughter and all eight grandchildren as well as the 75 to 80 children she called her “babees”. Judy dedicated her life to her children, grandchildren and “babees”, very seldom missing any extra curricular events. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Scared Heart League for many years as well as an active member of the library board.
Judy is survived by her husband, Richard, son, Todd (Rise), Alexandria, SD, daughter, Lisa (Jeff) Arend, Emery, SD, son, Neil (Jen) Waldera, Alexandria, SD, grandchildren, Chesney Arend (USD), Jamin Arend (DWU), Chase Arend (DSU), Tayah Waldera (USD), Jacy Waldera (USD), Kade Waldera (HHS), Keenan Waldera (HHS), Audrina Waldera (HHS), sisters, Jean (Dick) Brown, Sioux Falls, SD, Anna Mae Hofer, Dimock, SD and Joan (Gus) McBrayer, Ethan, SD.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents and brother in law, Javern Hofer.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be directed to the Little Tykes Daycare in Alexandria, St. Mary of Mercy Church or the Hanson County Community Library.
