James Knoll, 89, of Avon

Graveside services will be held at 1 PM, Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at the First Baptist Cemetery, rural Avon, with Military Honors. Peters Funeral Chapel in Avon is in charge of arrangements.

James Knoll was born October 4, 1931 at home northwest of Avon, SD, the son of Evert and Hillie (Christians) Knoll. He died Monday, November 9, 2020 at Good Samaritan Society in Tyndall.

Jim attended country school northwest of Avon. He married Anneatta Van Gerpen on November 22, 1957. Together they farmed and raised registered Herefords for many years until crossbreeding with Simmentals. In 1985 his son Rick began farming with him. They farmed together for over 30 years until Jim’s health began to fail. Jim entered the nursing home in January 2017, where he resided until his passing.

Jim was a member of the First Baptist Church. He will be remembered for his love for his three grandchildren, his STRONG work ethic and his faith in Christ. He really enjoyed horses, fishing and being a cattleman.

Thankful for having shared his life are his two sons: Rod (Sharla) Knoll of Melbourne Beach, FL and Rick (Lynelle) Knoll of Avon; and three grandchildren: Ethan, Katlyn and Brooke Knoll.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife Anneatta on January 9, 2019, his parents, and three brothers.
