Helen Ann Patton, 84, died December 18, 2020, in Silver Spring, MD. A graveside service will be held the first week of August at Calvary Cemetery in Mitchell, SD. More details to follow. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.
Helen was a great friend, sister, aunt, cousin and much more. Helen was born and grew up in Mitchell, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Gertrude Patton, and her brother, John Patton. She is survived by her sister, Mary Patton Fishencord of Scottsdale, Arizona and Mary’s children, Edward T. Fishencord, Jr., Matthew Fishencord, Veronica Maloney and Jennifer Vargas. Her brother’s children, Angela P. Amana, John A. Patton and Stacey Pederson, all of North Carolina. Her very dear friends, Sheldon and Audrey Katz of Washington D.C. Helen lived her life to the fullest. She was a woman of many talents and interests. She had her pilot’s license, she was a weaver, did needlepoint, knitted and dyed her own yarns and fabrics. Helen loved birds and traveled the world over with many of her birding friends. She became a master native plant gardener and loved working in her beautiful garden. She loved nature and she loved her cats. Helen will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her.
