Dwayne L. Leiferman
Memorial services for Dwayne Leiferman, 88, of Chamberlain will be 10:30 am Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at St. James Catholic Church in Chamberlain. Visitation will begin Monday at 6:00 pm with a scripture service at 7:00 pm at St. James Catholic Church in Chamberlain.
Dwayne Lewis Leiferman was born May 29, 1931 in Chamberlain, SD to Lewis and Anna (Svoboda) Leiferman.
On February 10, 1955, Dwayne was united in marriage to Lucille Lokoen. To this marriage, eight children were born Nadine, Diane, Brenda, Bryan, Denise, Tony, Jade, and Lauren. They made their home in Oacoma before moving to Chamberlain.
Dwayne aka “Killer” was a boxer in high school and captured the Lightweight State crown in 1948.
Dwayne was a very patriotic and proudly served his country for 46 years. In 1948, he joined the United States Army then transferred to the South Dakota National Guard achieving the rank of Sergeant Major and retiring in 1991.
Dwayne passed away on October 7, 2019 at Sanford Care Center in Chamberlain at the age of 88 years. Gratefully sharing his life are his wife Lucille; three sons Bryan Leiferman and Tony (Kami) Leiferman of WA, Jade (Linn) Leiferman of CO; five daughters Nadine (David) Bartlett of CO, Diane Cummings (Brian Frost), Brenda (Larry) Giedd, Denise Hyland, and Lauren (Ryan) Knippling all of SD; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents Anna and Lewis Leiferman, sister Marlys Drew, and son Bryan Leiferman.
