Edith Virginia Moe

Edith Virginia Moe, age 86 of Letcher, SD died Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Avera Brady Health and Rehab. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at the Letcher Community Church with burial at the American Legion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7:45 PM.

Edith Virginia (Friman) Moe, daughter of Eldo and Gladys (Benson) Friman, was born June 1, 1932 in Hurley, SD. She graduated from Hurley High School and also attended the South Dakota Beauty Academy in Sioux Falls. After Edith graduated, she moved to Mitchell, SD to work.

Edith was united in marriage with Donald Moe on April 4, 1954 in Letcher, SD. Edith and Donald spent their married life and raised their three children in the Letcher area.

Edith helped Donald with the farm over the years and was active in the community. She was a member of the United Church of Christ (now Letcher Community Church) in Letcher, active in Women's Fellowship, the American Legion Auxiliary, and treasurer of the Letcher Township for many years. Edith loved to do wood crafts, going on the wagon train trips, reading, playing cards, gardening and yard work.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband of 64 years, Donald Moe; three children, Roger Moe, Letcher, SD, Richard Moe and Dawn Strand and family, Mitchell, SD, Virginia Moe, Mitchell, SD; a granddaughter, Rae Moe, Mitchell, SD; a great grandson, Logan Moe, Mitchell, SD; sisters, Audrey (George) Sample, Flandreau, SD, Doris Cordell, Huron, SD, Margaret Adel, White, SD, Eleanor Bjerkaas, Yankton, SD, Genette Rusk and Caroline McHahem, both of Flandreau, SD; sisters-in-law, Vera (Woodford) Lovejoy and Shirley Drewery, both of Oxford, MS, Dorothy Friman, Tripp, SD; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Eugene Friman, Kenneth (Jim) Friman, Richard Friman; sisters, Frances Gossel, Dorothy Hansen, Vivian Friman, Geraldine Lechner and Marian Straw; brothers-in-law, Ronald Moe, Chester Drewery, John Adel, Robert Lechner, Duane Straw, Robert Bjerkaas, Loren McHaman, Kenneth Rusk, Victor Cordell, Herbert Gossel; sisters-in-law, Catherine Moe and Phyllis Friman.
