Lisa Godfrey was born September 6, 1959 in Mitchell, SD. She went to be with her Savior,Jesus Christ, with family at her side, on February 10, 2018 at the Hospice House in Rapid City after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Lisa lived with her mom and brothers, Lyle and Rodney, in Plankinton, until 1961, when she moved to Mitchell with her mom, Ruth and her new dad, Leonard Sperlich. She attended schools in Letcher, Mt. Vernon, and Mitchell, graduating in 1977 from Mitchell High School, where she made many life-long friends. She enjoyed her 40th class reunion in August, 2017, in Mitchell, SD.In her younger days, she worked at the Dairy Queen and Truck Stop in Mitchell, until she married Leonard Mayer on April 16, 1977. Two sons were born from this union, Leonard Paul Mayer, Jr. & Lance Preston Mayer. The family moved to Black Hawk in 1982, and Lisa and Lenny divorced in 1995. When Lisa moved to Black Hawk, she worked at Black Hawk Grocery, Western Stationary, and Northwest Peterbilt until starting at Godfrey Brake on March 7, 1986. Lisa worked at Godfrey until November of 2017, when she began her battle with cancer. She made many great friends and met her husband, Dan, there.Lisa married Dan Godfrey on September 5, 2009. They enjoyed many trips together, including Italy in 2016. She liked Nascar Races. Her favorite driver was Jimmy Johnson. Dan and Lisa had many great friends and family and she was always a gracious hostess at the many parties they had at their home. Lots of good times. She loved to go to auctions and sales. Her home was always decorated beautifully for the holidays - especially Christmas. She loved Christmas.

Lisa is survived by husband, Dan, and dog Jake of Rapid City, SD; sons, Lance Mayer, Black Hawk, SD, Lenny Mayer and children Jillian and Jasmine Mayer, Black Hawk, SD; mother, Ruth Sperlich, Rapid City, SD. Dan's children, DeAnne (Rob) Martinez, Texas and their children Rachel, Tyler, Jordan, and Alexis; Tara (Troy) Godfrey, and their children Hunter, Hailey, Shelbie, Hayden, and Leah, Rapid City, SD; Clint (Molly) Godfrey and their children, Mercy, Laynee, and Ace, Rapid City, SD; brothers, Lyle (Marilyn) Larson and their children, Cody (Jill) Larson, and their children, Noah and Mia, Mitchell, SD, and Michelle (Tanner) Musick, and their children Justice and Jaycee Hinker, Mitchell, SD; and Rodney Larson and children, Ryan, Kyle (Trin) and their son, Huntington, and Lindsay, all from California; and godchild, Amber Neyhart and her children, Seren and Lathen, Sturgis, SD. She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Sperlich; infant brother, Larry Larson; grandparents, Curvie and Nella Johnson, and Bill and Anna Sperlich. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 15th, from 5-7 PM at Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church, Peaceful Pines Road (Off I-90, Peaceful Pines Exit) in Black Hawk, SD. Funeral services will be on Friday, February 16th at 10:30 am at Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice House, Rapid City, SD or Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church, Black Hawk, SD.
