The Mitchell Trap Club played host to the South Dakota State Youth Shoot on Aug. 8, where handful of the area's top shooters earned recognition at the event, including two overall division winners.
Logan Heinzmann, of Mitchell, scored 190 out of a possible 200, including a division-best 48-for-50 in doubles to top the senior division, while Katie Welker, of Hamill, topped the girls division by shooting 189 out of 200. Welker also posted division-best tallies in 16’s (97-for-100), handicap (47-for-50) and doubles (45-for-50).
Chamberlain’s Mya Priebe paced the junior girls division with a 91-for-100 effort in 16-yard singles, along with 34-for-50 in doubles.
Brooke VerHey, of Mitchell, posted the best mark in handicap for the junior girls division at 43-for-50. Maddy Henkel, also of Mitchell, recorded a 89-for-100 score from 16 yards away in the senior girls division.
Platte’s Jaden Petersen (48-for-50) and Lexi Bultje (44-for-50) posted top handicap scores in the senior and senior girls divisions, respectively.
