DELL RAPIDS-Tyler Earls struck out nine batters on Sunday, helping Salem roll past Dell Rapids, 10-5.

Along with his nine strikeouts, Earls gave up two earned runs on six hits and four walks in his seven-inning start to earn the win. David Novak gave up three earned runs in the final three innings for the Cubs. Cole Cheeseman hit a pair of doubles and drove in two runs in the leadoff spot for Salem, while Cory Struck went 2-for-6 with three RBIs. Isaac Anderson also added two hits.

The Mudcats also had nine hits as a team, while its two pitchers struck out nine batters.

Salem (3-4) hosts Humboldt/Hartford on Thursday.
