Wayne (Butch) and Diane Miller will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house on Saturday, March 17 at the Abilene Elks Club, 417 NW 4th St, Abilene, from 7:30-9 p.m. The couple requests no gifts.

Butch and Diane (Nebelsick) Miller were married on March 16, 1968 at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, where Butch was attending AIT. He was then stationed in Vietnam from 1968-1969 and completed his service career at Fort Riley, KS, before he and Diane moved permanently to Kansas in 1971.

Butch worked at Fager Repair Shop and Bert & Wetta Sales and Diane worked in accounting for ABB Alstom Power before the couple opened their own business in downtown Abilene, M&M Tire & Auto, in April of 1996.

They are both active members of St. Andrews Catholic Church, where Diane serves as an organist, sings in the choir and teaches religion classes and Butch is a member of the Knights of Columbus and serves as an usher.

Butch and Diane are parents of 3 children: Jodi (Ken) Crandall of Winfield; Ryan (Lora) Miller of Dodge City, and Dusty (Sarah) Miller of Abilene.

They have nine grandchildren.
