PIERRE, S.D. — South Dakota’s active COVID-19 case count Friday, Oct. 9, hit another record high of 5,188.
Another five deaths were added to the state’s death toll, with 29 new deaths reported over the last three days.
Of the five new deaths, three were in the 80 and older range, one was in their 70s and the other in their 60s.
The death toll for South Dakota residents is now at 277.
Another 772 new COVID-19 cases were reported to the state on Friday, bringing the total positive case count to 27,215.
Currently, 267 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, a decrease of 17 people from Thursday.
