PIERRE, S.D. — Six new COVID-19 deaths were reported on Wednesday, July 29, in South Dakota, bringing the state’s death toll due to the pandemic to 129.

All six deaths were men, three ages 80 or older, two in the 60 to 69 range, and one in the 50 to 59 range. There was one death each in Minnehaha, Lincoln, Lyman, Roberts, Union and Brown counties.

New positive COVID-19 cases increased by 149 to 8,641 on Wednesday. Recoveries increased by 135 to 7,609.

Currently, 46 people are hospitalized with COVID-19 throughout the state.

Active cases increased to 903, an increase of eight from Tuesday.

A total of 2,223 new test results were reported on Wednesday.
