PIERRE, S.D. — The South Dakota Department of Health reported 43 more positive cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, May 3, for a total of 2,631.

The state has recorded 21 deaths as of Sunday, May 3, with no new deaths recorded since Thursday. There are 71 people who are hospitalized with COVID-19 -- a total of 126 have been hospitalized and have since been released.

The number of those who have recovered from COVID-19 infection is 1,799, an increase of 740 from Saturday.

The number of negative test results overall in the state is 15,786.

The seven counties with the most COVID-19 confirmed positive overall are:

  • Minnehaha County, 2,142
  • Lincoln County, 162
  • Brown County, 59
  • Union County, 31
  • Yankton County, 28
  • Beadle County, 21

  • Turner County, 17
