A 34-year-old Yankton man has pleaded guilty to sixth-offense drunken driving.
William Hegstrom was arrested shortly after 10 p.m. on May 9 in Mitchell after he was spotted driving in the 1200 block of North Main Street with his vehicle's headlights off.
Mitchell Patrol Officer Kevin Yeo noticed Hegstrom's speech was slurred and smelled alcohol on his breath. Hegstrom failed a series of sobriety tests and was arrested for drunken driving.
His blood alcohol content was found to be 0.164 shortly after his arrest. The legal limit for driving in South Dakota is 0.08. He pleaded guilty to the offense Tuesday at the Davison County Public Safety Center.
It is Hegstrom's sixth DUI since 2003. He faces a maximum of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.

A presentence investigation was ordered and sentencing was set for June.
