WAGNER - A Yankton man was arrested on several charges after allegedly assaulting an officer on Tuesday night.

According to the Charles Mix Sheriff’s Office, Tyler Rauscher, 19, became belligerent after Charles Mix Sheriff’s Deputy Frank Kistler placed him under arrest following a vehicle accident south of Wagner.

During the course of the arrest, Rauscher allegedly resisted Kistler. In the ensuing struggle, Rauscher and Kistler fell to the ground, resulting in a bruise on Kistler’s left arm. While attempting to place Rauscher in the police vehicle, Rauscher kicked the vehicle’s door, which struck Kistler in the head.

Rauscher was arrested for driving under the influence, having a revoked driver’s license, resisting arrest and simple assault on a law enforcement officer. He is currently being held in the Charles Mix County Jail on a $5,000 cash bond.

Another Yankton man was also arrested during the course of the crash investigation. Isaiah Groetken, 20, was arrested for underage consumption of an alcoholic beverage and possessing an open alcoholic container in a motor vehicle. Groetken, who the sheriff’s office also reports was “uncooperative” during the arrest, is being held in the Charles Mix County Jail on a $1,000 cash bond.
