YANKTON (AP) -- If a fire breaks out in Yankton later this week, there will be plenty of folks available to respond. The city is hosting a statewide firefighter training school.
The event starts Thursday and will run through Saturday. It will have a number of workshops and presentations.
There will be some public events, most notably a Friday parade of fire trucks and firefighters.
Yankton Volunteer Firefighters Association President Troy Cowman says the department has been working for the past year to organize the fire school. He says it hasn't been held in Yankton since 2005.
Cowman tells the media that the parade is "a chance for fire departments to show off what they have."
