CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - Wyoming ranchers are helping their counterparts in South Dakota stay in business after an October blizzard by donating cattle.
KCWY-TV reports more than 20 head of cattle were shipped to South Dakota from a Glenrock ranch on Thursday. Ranchers elsewhere in Wyoming are also donating.
It's all part of the Heifers for South Dakota program that helps ranchers who lost thousands of cattle in the Oct. 5 blizzard.
Converse County rancher Richard Grant is one donor. He says the need is great for South Dakota ranchers who lost 50 percent or more of their cattle.
The donated cattle are expected to birth calves by spring.
