ETHAN - Authorities said an Ethan woman was transported to the hospital as a precaution, but was uninjured after a Thursday afternoon accident.
Hanson County Sheriff’s Deputy Casey Tegethoff said Helen Pollreisz, 85, of rural Ethan, was heading north on 414th Avenue, a gravel road around three miles east of Ethan, at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
Tegethoff said she hit some loose gravel, spun out, and slid backward into the ditch in the 2006 Buick LaCrosse she was driving. Because of the ditch being rather steep and having a soft shoulder, Tegethoff said the vehicle tipped over onto the driver’s side.
Tegethoff said Pollreisz was not injured, but was having some shortness of breath, and was transported to Avera Queen of Peace hospital in Mitchell as a precaution.
