Woman missing for nearly 3 weeks found dead near Pine Ridge

PINE RIDGE (AP) -- The FBI says the body of a 24-year-old mother of two missing from the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation for nearly three weeks has been found.

PINE RIDGE (AP) - The FBI says the body of a 24-year-old mother of two missing from the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation for nearly three weeks has been found.

The Rapid City Journal reports that Emily Blue Bird's body was found Thursday near Pine Ridge.

Rapid City Police Community Relations Specialist Brendyn Medina says a family member had reported giving Blue Bird a ride to her mother's house in Pine Ridge on Jan. 2, and she had not been seen since.

FBI Chief Division Counsel Kyle Loven says the matter is under investigation and he could not comment further.

Blue Bird was the mother of 6-year-old Aysa and 5-year-old Makayla.

Blue Bird's aunt, Carla Cheyenne, of Rapid City, says she knew Blue Bird all her life and the family is very sad.
