ALEXANDRIA - A 20-year-old woman died early Tuesday in a one-vehicle rollover crash in Hanson County. 

The South Dakota Department of Public Safety said the crash occurred at 6:50 a.m. Tuesday, 6 miles north of Alexandria at the intersection of 421st Avenue and 251st Street.

The driver, traveling in a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, was headng south on 421st Avenue when she lost control of the truck near the intersection with 251st Street. The vehicle crossed into the northbound lane, back across the roadway, into the west ditch and rolled. 

The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle. The woman, who has not been identified by authorities, was pronounced dead at the scene.  

The South Dakota Highway Patrol and the Hanson County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene. That area of 421st Avenue was closed to traffic for more than three hours. The Highway Patrol investigation into the crash continues.
