Wisconsin man identified as victim in Brule County fatal crash

Crash occurred Thursday morning

The South Dakota Department of Public Safety has released the name of the victim in a fatal one-vehicle crash that took place west of Kimball Thursday morning.

According to a press release, Gerald Pierotti, 84, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, died when the 2004 Dodge Dakota pickup he was driving eastbound on Interstate-90 went into the south ditch. Pierotti was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital in Chamberlain.

The crash occurred at approximately 8:50 a.m. near mile marker 281, about two miles west of Kimball.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol, a part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, continues to investigate the crash.
