While Mitchell received a significant snowfall on Tuesday, the weather is expected warm up and remain dry for the extended forecast.

The National Weather Service of Sioux Falls did not have snow totals available on Tuesday evening following the afternoon snowfall that lasted throughout much of the morning and into the afternoon. Jeff Chapman, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, said the Mitchell area is expected to experience a dry period heading into the New Year holiday.

On Wednesday, temperatures are expected to reach around 25 degrees and warm up to 30 degrees on Thursday.

“Mitchell and the surrounding area will see an extended period of dry weather, along with warmer temperatures through this week and into next week,” Chapman said Tuesday.
