The city of Mitchell will have sandbags available until 5 p.m. Thursday, as the city continues to battle falling rising waters and additional snowfall.

Volunteers are also welcome to assist filling sandbags at 1405 W. Eighth Ave. in Mitchell, west of the Highway 37 bypass. City workers and volunteers filled more than 1,500 sandbags on Wednesday when the first call went out, and were on pace to fill more than that on Thursday to assist homeowners with water filling their basements, garages and homes.

City officials also said the water restrictions for the sanitary sewer systems on the north end of Mitchell have been lifted.
