WAGNER - A Wagner man has recently been charged with raping a 12-year-old girl after two alleged incidents between two and four years ago.
Sunrise Waetermans, 38, was charged with two counts of first-degree rape, stemming from two incidents between 2013 and 2015 in which he sexually touched a young girl in Wagner and threatened to hurt and kill her if she told anyone, court documents state.
According to court documents, the girl told officials she was raped when she was about 12 years old. On Jan. 5, she identified Waetermans as the suspect during an interview.
The girl said she still has dreams about the incidents and tried to kill herself, which led to her admission.
An arrest warrant was signed on Jan. 6, but Waetermans has not yet been arrested, according to court documents. Bond was set at $50,000.
