Veronica "Jan" Schoenfelder, 65, Brookings, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at her home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas More Catholic Parish, Brookings, with the Rev. Rod Farke officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Emsley Cemetery, Ethan. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Rude's Funeral Home, Brookings, with a 6:30 p.m. Scripture service and rosary.
She was born on Aug. 23, 1943, in Wagner to James Vincent and Lillian Marie (Wagner) Efta.
She was educated in Wagner and graduated from Wagner High School.
She attended Southern State Teachers College, Springfield, for an elementary education degree.

On Aug. 23, 1962, she married Fran Schoenfelder in Wagner.
She was a co-owner of Jes' Crafts and Gifts, Plankinton.
In 1984, she and her family moved to Brookings, where she assisted with ECMD Adult Education and instructed glass etching classes.
She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Parish.
She is survived by her husband, her children: Jon and Jay both of Brookings; Twyla Walter and husband Mark, Ridgefield, Conn.; and Tonya Schoenfelder, Sioux Falls; four grandchildren, and six siblings: Kaye Metteer, Yankton; Tony Efta and wife Lona; and Joan Woods and husband Norman, all of Wagner; Leonard Efta and wife Ramona, Kenai, Alaska; Louise Mika and husband Ron, Mikiski, Alaska; and Joyce Sanders and husband Jerome, Maple Valley, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters: Mary Austrevich, Theresa Efta and Rose Swigart; five brothers: Val, John, Joe, Tom and Francis Efta; and her father- and mother-in-law, Pete and Lumena Schoenfelder.
