The United Blood Services of Mitchell is holding a blood drive from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the County Fair Banquet Room Mitchell.

The goal is to draw 72 pints of blood at this drive. According to Abbie Titze, donor recruiter for United Blood Services, donations are especially needed right now.

"Blood tends to run low heading into the summer, as the need increases and donations decrease," Titze said. "We understand people are busy enjoying the good weather, having graduations, working in their yards, and getting used to a summer schedule with the kids. We just hope they will remember that somewhere there is a patient who needs us to take time out of our busy day and donate blood."

To schedule an appointment, call 996-3688 today or you can register yourself by going to www.bloodhero.com . Donors must be 16 years of age, in good health, and have a photo ID.

United Blood Services provides blood to over 30 hospitals in South Dakota and is running low all blood types except AB and is in special need of O positive and O negative blood types.
