Two Mitchell administrators have been lauded for their educational achievements in the state.

On Wednesday, the School Administrators of South Dakota (SASD) awarded Mitchell School District Superintendent Joe Graves the Swier Law Office Legislative Advocacy Award.

The award is given to individuals who have worked to "advance the positions of education at the local and national level." It was presented during the SASD luncheon on Wednesday in Pierre.

Eight additional administrators were honored as "Outstanding Administrators of South Dakota" at the event, according to a press release, including Mitchell's Tracy Christensen. Christensen serves as the director of special education for the James Valley Education Cooperative.

Following the luncheon, the outstanding administrators were presented on the floor of the House and Senate and recognized with a legislative commemoration.
