Two men ID'd in Tyndall area fatal crash

TYNDALL — The two men were killed in a two-vehicle crash in Bon Homme County on Wednesday, Nov. 4 have been identified.

The crash occurred 10 miles north of Tyndall on South Dakota Highway 46 at 2:44 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, a 2014 Yamaha side-by-side driven by Richard Zander, 57, of Scotland, was traveling westbound on Highway 46 and was turning south into a driveway when it was struck by a 1993 Plymouth Voyager, driven by David Painter, 69, of Avon, that was eastbound. The two vehicles rolled into the south ditch.

Both men were pronounced dead at the scene and they were publicly identified Sunday. Neither man was wearing a seat belt.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
